Pakistan is blessed with vast mineral resources and is home to various mineral deposits, including copper, gold, sulfur, lead, and zinc which will continue to be an essential source of economic development for Pakistan. There are 92 known minerals of which 52 are commercially exploited with a total production of 68.52 million metric tons per year. Mineral resources of Pakistan also include the reserves of limestone, gypsum, chromites, rock salt, silver, iron ore, precious stones, marbles, gems, tiles, fire clay, sulfur, silica sand, etc.
It is estimated that Pakistan has $6 trillion worth of mineral deposits.The country has the world’s second largest salt mines and fifth largest copper and gold reserves, and second largest coal deposits, as well as estimated billions of barrels of crude oil.
