From the mighty stretches of the Karakoram in the North to the vast alluvial delta of the Indus River in the South; Pakistan remains a land of high adventure and nature. Trekking, mountaineering, white water rafting, mountain and desert jeep safaris, camel and yak safaris, trout fishing and bird watching are a few activities, which entice the adventure and nature lovers to Pakistan.

Pakistan’s tourism sector possesses immense potential for both green field and brownfield investments. The sector is ranked at the top of Condé Nast Traveller's list 2020 for best tourist destinations. According to the British Back- packers Society Pakistan is the most exciting tourist destination right now and is declared world’s third highest potential adventure destination for 2020. Pakistan also ranks among the top 25 percent of global destinations for its UNESCO World Heritage Sites as recognized by World Economic Forum (WEF).

In 2023, the sector contributed 5.8 percent to the country’s GDP and created 4.73 million jobs. 1.6 billion USD was spent by international travelers whereas  domestic traveler spending was 13.6 billion USD. As per World Travel and Tourism Council total Visitor spending, under both categories, is expected to reach $36.6 billion within a decade.

Pakistan has made a big jump on International Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI) 2024 by moving up twenty places as per the 2024 report released by the World Economic Forum (WEF): Keeping the base year 2019, Pakistan has improved 20 ranks and scored at 101 on the TTDI in 2024.

During the last 10 years, a continuous growth has been recorded in the international arrivals in Pakistan. Apart from being a mountaineering haven for professional mountaineers, Pakistan also is uniquely positioned for Faith Tourism as it boasts quite a few significant sites for Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus. Being home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization dating back to the Bronze Age, the country also has quite a few exciting archaeological sites: Taxila, Mohenjodaro, Harappa and Mehrgarh are just to name a few.
